About
Anuya is a writer and creative professional with 18+ years of experience under her belt. She started her career as the editor of a youth magazine for Times of India called JLT, rose up the ranks to become editor of Femina Girl (the younger sister of their flagship brand for women, Femina) and moved through corporate marketing roles at MTV, Star India Pvt Ltd, and YouTube before settling on advertising.
She’s a typical millennial, someone who can’t sit still because her brain is full of creative thoughts in Brownian motion, waiting to escape into the world in the form of strange little projects.

Anuya’s work is broadly divided into three verticals, each one representing a passion.

Anuya Jakatdar is the Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of Bare Bones Collective, a new-age, independent agency that has made a name for itself by doing some truly audacious work. Several of Bare Bones Collective’s campaigns have gone viral and won numerous prestigious national advertising awards, despite being only three years old.

Before Bare Bones Collective, Anuya worked as a freelance copywriter and screenwriter. She’s written three shows for India’s most beloved production house, The Viral Fever, two of which rest on Amazon MX Player, and one on Sony Liv. Interestingly, all three shows have female leads, and feature strong, independent, funny girls.

Books on Toast is India’s most beloved Booktube channel. Dedicated to all things books and reading, it’s a community for readers who can no longer tolerate the over intellectualisation of literature by a handful of gatekeepers. It’s for everybody to come and express their opinions freely, in a fun, no-holds-barred way. Started by Anuya with her channel partner Sharin Bhatti, Books on Toast is the happiest, most positive corner of the internet. Over the last few years, Books On Toast has hosted authors like Shashi Tharoor, Amitav Ghosh, Vikram Chandra, Jeffrey Archer, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Yann Martel, Irvine Welsh, Andre Aciman, Andrew Sean Greer and so on…
